PGS Presents: Maria Olaya

The Portland Guitar Society (PGS) will hold its May Monthly Meeting and open mic on Sunday, May 19 from 7-9 pm at Artichoke Community Music. Doors will open at 6:30pm. PGS presents a monthly meeting, free to the public, (donations are welcome) for players and listeners, providing two hours of great guitar music. It's also a nonprofit membership organization providing a friendly place to meet other players, makers, and teachers, and it's a great place to discover and share new tunes, techniques, and styles. We welcome all kinds of music and all skill levels, solo players, and ensembles. Anyone needing amplification, please bring your own amp. Meetings start with open mic time and often end with a half-hour Featured Performer set. Admission is free and donations are welcomed. 

Our May featured performer will be classical guitarist Maria Olaya. A frequent and active performer in the Pacific Northwest, Maria has played twice as the featured guitarist for the Portland Guitar Society.

Hailing originally from Colombia, Maria Olaya is a classical guitarist, music teacher, composer, and arranger who draws from many years of experience and a wealth of musical knowledge. Maria has performed and taught around the world, including appearances in Colombia, Germany, and all over the United States.
