Pianist Aaron Diehl in a recital of concert works composed in jazz style, featuring Zodiac Suite, a major solo work by American pianist, arranger and composer Mary Lou Williams. Zodiac Suite consists of portraits of musical friends from each sign of the zodiac. (“Aries” is for Ben Webster and Billie Holiday; “Taurus” is for Duke Ellington, etc.)

A virtuoso who moves easily between musical worlds, pianist Aaron Diehl is sure to delight listeners who reject conventional notions of genre. Known to DACAMERA’s audience as the pianist with jazz vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant, Aaron Diehl has been an acclaimed soloist with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic. Diehl’s most recent recording is 2020’s The Vagabond.

The broadcast will take place at 7pm Central / 5pm Pacific.
