Gabriel Royal descended into the New York City subway with a dollar in his pocket and a cello under his arm. To earn some extra pocket change he picked up busking and captivated commuters on the L and G trains. One of those commuters was an artist manager, and in a New York minute Gabriel went from serenading in subterranean tunnels to releasing a debut album and music video directed by Blake Farber (best known for his work with Beyoncé). This Oklahoma-born, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and cellist plays 'grown up lullabies'. He is influenced by Stevie Wonder’s groove and Burt Bacharach's jazzy yet poppy sensitivities. Gabriel has developed a trademark song-over-cello sound that is perhaps best described as modern chamber pop.
