The Houston-based professional ensemble ROCO continues its Season 16 In Concert series, showcasing the full 40-piece orchestra in livestreamed performances, with music exploring the interplay of light and dark, led by conductor Ward Stare in his ROCO debut.

The final commission of a season triptych by Composer-In-Residence Alyssa Morris, the world premiere of Tlapalli Tlahuilli spotlights ROCO’s principal winds and is based on the children’s book Musicians of the Sun, a retelling of an Aztec myth detailing how the world received its sound and color. Completing the program are Patrick Harlin’s dynamic Shadow Dancer, Haydn’s "Symphony No. 101, The Clock,” and Luigi Dallapiccola’s Baroque-inspired Tartiniana seconda, featuring violinist Maureen Nelson.

ROCOrooters (ROCO’s music education program for children) has gone virtual and is available online in conjunction with all of ROCO’s In Concert and Unchambered performances during the 2020-2021 season. “ROCOrooters in the Cloud” includes free, downloadable materials, with themed learning activities, so the whole family can enjoy the concerts together.
