Joseph Haydn – Symphony No. 98
Gustav Holst – The Planets

The spark of inspiration shines bright in foggy London! From the symphony Joseph Haydn wrote to dazzle his British fans to the electrifying new voice of young Hannah Kendall, London has long been at the center of the orchestral world. No British composer cast his sights further than Gustav Holst, who gave us a rich-hued, mystical view of the solar system in The Planets. The celestial bodies display their true selves more clearly than any telescope could ever reveal: you’ll tremble at the frightful war drums of Mars, flutter with winged Mercury, and sink into the shimmering mystery of icy Neptune as each godlike planet orbits past your ears.

The Seattle Symphony invites young people ages 8 to 18 to attend most Delta Air Lines Masterworks, Seattle Pops, and Untuxed series performances FREE with the purchase of an adult ticket. Family Connections tickets are available at the time of adult ticket purchase by phone and in-person only at the Seattle Symphony Ticket Office.
