Beethoven – Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, "Eroica"
Third in the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra's Harmony from Discord program: a series of concerts honoring the works from composers who struggled with oppression, most particularly those who lost their lives in the Holocaust. This year, we present the story of a true hero and Holocaust survivor Curt Lowens in Sharon Farber's work inspired by his acts of heroism in saving over 100 Jewish children, and 2 American pilots. The afternoon closes with Beethoven's iconic Eroica.
