Ngai – The Glory Fanfare (world premiere)
Marquez – Danzon No. 2 (with Stefan Jones, conductor)
Guinivan – 20th Anniversary Commission (world premiere)
Beethoven – Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor” (with Angelo Rondello, piano)

Some years ago, LUCO had the privilege of performing the thrilling percussion concerto by American rising-star composer Eric Guinivan. His brilliant and highly virtuosic music made a lasting impression on us, and inspired the commission of a new work to celebrate LUCO's 20th anniversary.

Another of our competition winners is Ka Yat Ngai, who just began his masters in composition at Washington State University. The Glory Fanfare is his first full-orchestra composition.

This cycle will mark the conducting debut of Stefan Jones, LUCO's new assistant conductor, who also plays piano and violin, and composes. He will lead Danzon No.2, based on the famed Cuban dance form and composed by prominent Mexican composer Arturo Marquez.

Joining such bright young talents will be equally talented pianist Angelo Rondello performing Beethoven's last and finest piano concerto. Now that's one rousing celebration of talented youth!
