With performances from the Northwest Chinese Guzheng Orchestra, the Zhenlun Cello Orchestra, the US China Music Ensemble, The Seattle Chinese Orchestra, and many more, and the return of conducting favorite Roger Nelson, audiences will again be wrapped in the gorgeously evocative music of China.

Combining traditional Chinese instruments with modern Western ones, the performers weave a mesmerizing tapestry of sound, demonstrating the power and beauty that can result when two cultures combine their talents for the benefit of all. Additionally, “At First Light: Chinese Music in the Year of the Rooster” will treat audiences to two firsts: the concert premiere of Gobi Desert, a beautiful piece arranged by Mr. Zhenfen Huang, and the Benaroya Hall premiere of the Seattle Community Choir joining forces with the Seattle Chinese Orchestra to add a moving vocal element to the already stunning orchestral work.
