OboeBass! is on a creative journey inventing an enchanting body of work for this previously unexplored pair of instruments. They invite you to join them as they describe their voyage and perform their trail-blazing works. Experience for yourself music that is delighting and thrilling audiences around the country.

Carrie Vecchione, oboe, and Rolf Erdahl, double bass, are OboeBass!, the world’s only professional oboe/bass duo. They concertize widely around the US, and toured Norway in 2017. They have commissioned over 40 new oboe/bass pieces and recorded six CDs, effectively creating the oboe/bass duo genre. They typically present over 100 Pages of Music education programs annually to elementary schools and senior residences around Minnesota, and are Roster Artists for the South Dakota Arts Council. The creation of Valerie Coleman’s American Vein, performed on this concert, was made possible by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with generous funding provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Valerie has been hailed “one of the Top 35 Women Composers” by Washington Post critic Anne Midgette. Tim has been the most prolific composer of OboeBass! repertoire, including all the music for the duo’s most recent duo CD Monk Fish Tango with music for English horn and bass.
