This concert was originally scheduled as the final event in this Ecstatic Music series at the Kaufman Music Center. The concert, along with the rest of the Living Music season, has been re-imagined for the web, bringing together a dynamic group of acclaimed musicians online. The guests for May 14 include Grammy-nominated flutist, composer, and vocalist Nathalie Joachim; renowned composer and Co-Director of New Amsterdam Records Judd Greenstein; Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Emily King, and virtuosic contemporary classical ensemble yMusic. The episode also features Kaufman Music Center Executive Director Kate Sheeran and musicians from Kaufman’s Special Music School High School – a NYC public school that teaches music as a core subject.

About yMusic

Founded in New York City in 2008, American chamber ensemble yMusic (Alex Sopp, flutes/voice; Hideaki Aomori, clarinets; CJ Camerieri, trumpet/horn; Rob Moose, violin; Nadia Sirota, viola; Gabriel Cabezas, cello) believes in presenting excellent, emotionally communicative music, regardless of style or idiom. They have a unique mission: to work on both sides of the classical/popular music divide, without sacrificing rigor, virtuosity, charisma or style. yMusic has lent their instantly-recognizable sound to commissions and projects by a dizzying array of artists, including Andrew Norman, Anohni, Missy Mazzoli, Paul Simon, and more.
