In the midst of a global pandemic and social unrest, this is a program centered on grief but anchored in hope. The concert opens with Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson’s 1973 Lamentations for Solo Cello, subtitled “Black/Folk Song Suite.” Perkinson described this work as “the reflection and statement of a people’s crying out.” The rich depth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Quintet in G minor will follow. Johannes Brahms’ Horn Trio, written to simulate the stages of grief in memory of his mother, leaves us on a note of hopefulness and acceptance.

This is a repeat broadcast of a recent live streamed concert.

The broadcast will take place at 7pm Central / 5pm Pacific.
