Miguel del Águila – Herbsttag ("Autumn Day") for flute, bassoon, & harp
Dmitri Shostakovich – Piano Concerto No. 1
Robert Schumann – Symphony No. 4 in D minor, Op. 120

German conductor Marc Albrecht makes his Minnesota Orchestra debut in a program that highlights the unpredictable. Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski performs Dmitri Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto, a sparkling and wildly entertaining work that also features Manny Laureano, the Orchestra’s principal trumpet.

The concert begins with a magical trio for flute, bassoon and harp composed in 1986 by Miguel del Águila, and concludes with Robert Schumann’s stormy Symphony No. 4. Each piece represents something uncharacteristic or unexpected from its composer, showcasing the incredible things that can come when comfort zones are stretched.

The livestream will take place at 8pm Central / 6pm Pacific.
