Join musicians from Castle of Our Skins for music, history, and more in this family-friendly "edu-tainment" concert featuring string quartets by Black composers that showcase African American spirituals.

Kid-friendly introductions before each piece will highlight the specific spiritual it is associated with. Then the original spiritual will be played, along with a brief excerpt of the piece/movement as a bit of a listening guide before diving into the full performance.

The program will include:

Adolphus Hailstork – String Quartet No. 2, Variations on Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Frederick C. Tillis – Selections from Spiritual Fantasy No. 12 for string quartet

Recommended for all ages! Littler ones will get a lot out of the music, and the historic context in between songs will resonate more with older kids and adults.

The broadcast will take place at 12pm Pacific. The performance was filmed earlier in Boston, MA at The Boston Athenaeum.

Tickets are "Pay-What-You-Can": $20, $10, $5, or $0
