CelloBello is a premier global performance and pedagogy resource, providing accessibility to the highest level of artistic excellence through our website, events, and social media engagements. This yearly fundraising concert will celebrate our Founder and Artistic Director Paul Katz’s 80th Birthday and will bring together a star-studded cast of performers who have been impacted by Mr. Katz’s teaching, coaching, and collegiality across his career. CelloBello’s 2021 Gala will be a hybrid event. You can join us in-person at Burnes Hall on the campus of Boston’s New England Conservatory, followed by a reception at SRV restaurant. Otherwise, you can join us from anywhere in the world via the livestream event, which will be viewable on demand for up to 72 hours after the event.

You really won’t want to miss this! Performers will include Ian Swensen, Catherine Cho, Molly Carr, Edward Gazouleas, Astrid Schween, Natasha Brofsky, Jeffrey Zeigler, Pei-Shan Lee, the Balourdet, Harlem, and Borromeo String Quartets… and even more surprise guests. The evening will feature one of a kind chamber music collaborations, tributes, and candid discussions – come one, come all! The event will be hosted by the inimitable Josh Aronson, Academy Award-nominated film director of the acclaimed Talent Has Hunger documentary which follows Paul Katz’s teaching career.

The gala will begin at 7:30pm Eastern / 4:30pm Pacific.

Livestream available live and on demand for up to 72 hours following the event.

About Harlem Quartet

Harlem Quartet advances diversity in classical music while engaging new audiences with varied repertoire that includes works by minority composers. Their mission to share their passion with a wider audience has taken them around the world; from a 2009 performance at the White House for President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, to a highly successful tour of South Africa in 2012, and numerous venues in between. The musically versatile ensemble has performed with such distinguished artists as Itzhak Perlman, Ida Kavafian, Carter Brey, Fred Sherry, Misha Dichter, Jeremy Denk, and Paquito D'Rivera. The quartet also collaborated with jazz masters Chick Corea and Gary Burton on the album Hot House, a 2013 multi-Grammy Award winning release.
