The Felix Skowronek Memorial Event is an annual event sponsored by the Seattle Flute Society in honor the organization's founder, Felix Skowronek. The event traditionally features local artists and/or wooden flute specialists. Past events have featured performances by Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Barker, Janet See, and Cathy Ransom Karoly, among others. In the online 2020-2021 Season, the Felix Skowronek Memorial Event was expanded into a series of presentations, workshops, and performances by local flutists, teachers, and artisans. The event in its original design returned for the 2021-2022 Season.

Celebrate SFS's triumphant return to in-person programming! The 2021 Felix Skowronek Memorial Event features a masterclass for adult amateur flutists led by Dr. Sarah Bassingthwaighte and a live performance by the SFS Flute Choir.

The event will begin at 12:30pm Pacific.

Please note that in accordance with King County regulations and Music Center of the Northwest policies, every adult (18+) is required to be fully vaccinated, and masks must be worn by all attendees at all times. (Performers may remove their mask while playing.) In addition, all attendees must sign a COVID-19 Liability Waiver and Vaccine Attestation, and will have their temperature checked. Guests with temperatures above 100° will be denied entry. Finally, please note that there is an audience limit of fifty (50) persons; attendees will be admitted in the order they arrive. After fifty (50) audience members have been admitted, all other persons will be denied entry.

For those who would prefer to watch from afar, the event will be live-streamed. Details on how to watch will be posted here shortly: https://www.seattleflutesociety.org/felix-skowronek-memorial-event
