"Fighting the Good Fight" reflects the many changes that Beethoven endured in adapting to his hearing loss and tinnitus. It also reflects how the Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra has persevered and adapted to ever-changing conditions in the COVID landscape.

The premiere of Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto was actually Beethoven’s last time performing as a soloist, as his hearing loss progressed. Amazingly, Beethoven didn’t let this impairment stop him from pressing on. Fast forward five years later, and we see Beethoven conducting the premiere of his Symphony No. 7, the last concert he conducted on his own (again a result of his deteriorating hearing). The piece was part of a benefit concert, honoring a group of wounded soldiers from Napoleonic War battles.
