The revered nine-time Grammy Award-winning Emerson String Quartet joins us for the first appearance of their highly anticipated final concert season and their final performance in Kaufmann Concert Hall.

The quartet opens the festival with selections from Bach's monumental The Art of Fugue – a work that fueled Mendelssohn’s compositional inspiration and points the way to the apex of the program in Mendelssohn’s Octet. Joining to perform this beloved masterpiece is the Calidore Quartet, the award-winning young ensemble mentored by the Emerson's members. A rich and thoughtful program of Bach and Mendelssohn's single most representative chamber works by esteemed chamber ensembles of two generations.

Attending online: Concert available for viewing online for 72 hours from time of broadcast.

Attending in person: Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination is Required for all adults and children ages 5+. Masks must be worn by everyone age 2+ in performance spaces (Kaufmann Concert Hall, Buttenwieser Hall, Weill Art Gallery), and all program areas serving children under 5 years old.
