Peter Dayton — Selected works

"Fearless, versatile young soprano" Katie Procell (Opera News) is a singer of operatic and new music based in the Baltimore area. Procell is represented by Spotlight Artists Management. She works closely with composer Peter Dayton, has premiered several of his works. She made her album debut with Dayton's vocal chamber music in 2022, Stories Out of Cherry Stems. She also works closely with composer Garth Baxter and premiered the title role in the film premiere of his opera Lily in conjunction with Fraimework Productions. She also appears on a compilation album of Garth'a Ask of Me What the Birds Sang.

Christopher Lowry: Two-time prizewinner in the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, Grand Prize winner in the Lewisville Lake Symphony International String Competition, winner of the Sousa/ABA/Ostwald Composition Award, and winner of Cuarteto Jose White's "Nuestra America" Composition Award. Dr. Lowry is emerging as one of the leading violists and composers of his generation. Lowry and Dayton have been friends and collaborators since 2009; Dayton has composed numerous works specifically for Lowry, who has recorded and performed it in the American South and Mexico. He is currently based in Alabama.

Peter Dayton is described as "a composer whose heart and care are palpable" (American Record Guide). He is passionate about poetry and song. His recent release, Stories Out of Cherry Stems: Katie Procell sings works by Peter Dayton (Navona Records, 2022), was nominated for Critic's Choice by Opera News, which praised Dayton's "fresh and interesting sounds." His discography also includes Aspects of Landscape: Music from the world of John Hitchens (Independent, 2021), Notes to Loved Ones: New Music for Strings & Piano (Navona Records, 2018). He holds degrees from Vanderbilt University and Peabody Conservatory and is a proud resident of Baltimore.
