Srivani Jade is a singer and composer of North Indian music. Her music celebrates universal themes such as love and longing, motherhood, the change of seasons, and festivals. The songs can range from ancient and sombre, to contemporary, quirky, and fun. The language is often a dialect of Hindi. She will introduce the pieces – the Ragas, the stories they tell, and what to listen for. She will sing and play the tanpura (4-stringed lute). Vivek Datar on the harmonium (reed/keys), and Tanmay Bichu on the tabla (drums) complete the ensemble.

About Srivani Jade, voice & tanpura

Srivani Jade was introduced to music at the age of four by her father Bhavani Prasad Jade and uncle Raghavendra Tilwalli. She has studied Khayal with Dr. Sharad Gadre in the Gwalior style and with Pandit Parameshwar Hegde in the Kirana style. She identifies deeply with the Bhakti tradition, and enjoys singing light classical music (Thumri-Dadra) and Devotional repertoire (Bhajans, Abhangs, Devaranama).
