The Northwest Symphony Orchestra performs Lobgesang ("Hymn of Praise") by Felix Mendelssohn on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 7:30pm at Benaroya Hall.

Joining the NWSO in this performance is ChoralSounds Northwest, Seattle Pacific University Choirs, and West Side Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. The program will feature soprano soloists Alexandra Picard, and Lauren Kulesa, and tenor soloist Brendan Tuohy. Anthony Spain, Music Director of the NWSO conducts.

Also on the program is Dvořák's Slavonic Dance, Op. 46, No. 8; choral music performed by Seattle Pacific University Chamber Singers (Ryan Ellis conducting); and Fantasia in D minor "A Psalm for The Voiceless" (world premiere) by Joshua A. Idio – performed by Seattle Pacific University Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Christopher T. F. Hanson.

About Lauren Kulesa, soprano

Lauren Kulesa has a master’s degree in Voice Performance from the University of Washington, where she studied with Dr. Kari Ragan. In 2018, she sang the role of Le Feu in University of Washington's production of L'enfant et les sortilèges and the role of Mrs. Fiorentino in Pacific Lutheran University's Street Scene. In 2019, she sang the role of Sister Genevieve in Puccini's Suor Angelica, with Lyric Opera Northwest, she was the Soprano soloist in the University of Washington’s production of the Chamber Opera, Hydrogen Jukebox, by Philip Glass.

About SPU Symphony Orchestra

Symphony Orchestra is a select ensemble of strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments that performs works from the extensive orchestral literature. Symphony Orchestra performs on campus in concerts each quarter, as well as annually at the highly acclaimed Sacred Sounds of Christmas, an Advent and Christmas celebration in downtown Seattle.
