Mary Seaton Room, Kleinhans Music Hall, Buffalo, NY, United States

The Buffalo Chamber Music Society is celebrating its 100th season by commissioning a new work by one of the leading composers in the United States, Jennifer Higdon. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Music, Ms. Higdon has received commissions from major orchestras, including those of Chicago, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Philadelphia. Her quartet will receive its world premiere at this, our opening concert of the 2023-2024 season.

The Aizuri Quartet has earned a reputation as one of the best of the world's young chamber ensembles. Founded in 2012 by graduates of Curtis and Juilliard, the quartet won the University of Michigan's M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition. As the most recent winners of the Cleveland Quartet, the Quartet has forged a career that has included performances at major venues throughout the United States. Their debut album Blueprinting, featuring new works written for the quartet by five American composers, was named one of NPR Music's Best Classical Albums of 2018.

Concerts are held at the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm. A pre-concert talk with the musicians is scheduled for 6:45pm.
