Evergreen Ensemble presents a program exploring the transition from winter to spring, as well as the start of Lent, a liturgical season of reflection and transformation for so many. Featuring both Dark Night of the Soul and Luminous Night of the Soul by Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo, as well as works by Z. Randall Stroope, Marques L.A. Garrett, Elaine Hagenberg, Moses Hogan, Jeffrey Van, Connor Koppin, and Daniel Elder. Join us for a concert of expansive and introspective music, sung by the beautiful artists of Evergreen Ensemble!

About Evergreen Ensemble

Evergreen Ensemble is a professional vocal ensemble located in the greater Seattle area. Bringing together some of the finest singers in the Pacific Northwest, as well as from around the country, Evergreen provides opportunities for vocal artists to collaborate at the highest level and to enrich our community through artistic excellence. About Aleida Gehrels, viola

A versatile Seattle-based violist, Aleida Gehrels excels in both contemporary and classical music. She has toured with Macklemore, appeared on KEXP with ODESZA, and featured on Netflix's Love Is Blind. Her collaborations extend to artists like Father John Misty, Perfume Genius, and Smokey Robinson. In the classical sphere, Aleida has played with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra and The Sound Ensemble, featuring in live broadcasts on KING FM. She has also been engaged with the Fifth Avenue Theatre, Seattle Modern Orchestra, Bellingham Festival of Music, and Village Theatre, showcasing her broad musical reach.

About Lauren McShane, cello

Lauren McShane is a freelance cellist and teacher in Seattle. She performs regularly with Portland Cello Project, Seattle Rock Orchestra, and Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra. In addition to performing, Lauren is passionate about teaching. She believes that curiosity should lead learning; and each student has a unique way of engaging with the world that can facilitate learning. She also believes music should be taught in a positive atmosphere, motivated by musical, emotional, and technical growth. She teaches a full private cello studio, alongside Holy Names Academy, Snoqualmie Strings, and is faculty at Icicle Creek Summer Symphony.
