Ian Schneiderman

Born and raised in Seattle, bassoonist Ian Schneiderman performs a diverse array of solo, chamber and orchestral music. In the Pacific Northwest, Ian has played with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, and the Tacoma City Ballet. He has also been invited to perform with the Boise Philharmonic, Symphony Tacoma, the Vancouver Symphony (USA), Symphoria (formerly the Syracuse Symphony), the Illinois Symphony, and the Walla Walla Symphony. Ian has spent his summers performing and studying at the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Chautauqua Institution, Brevard Music Center, Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy, and at the Marrowstone and Northwest Mahler music festivals.

Ian has had the privilege of coaching young bassoonists of the Seattle Youth Symphony, Cascade Youth Symphony and the Marrowstone Music Festival. He also serves as a teaching assistant at the Eastman School of Music where he teaches secondary bassoon lessons. Ian is currently completing his master's degree at the Eastman School of Music and holds a bachelor’s degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Ian's primary teachers include Francine Peterson, William Ludwig, and George Sakakeeny. He's done additional studies with Jeff Robinson and Kathleen McLean.
